I Can Do All Things!

Have you ever heard this scripture verse from the Bible?  “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Phillipians 4:13)

I must admit that my mother’s choices regarding religion destroyed my faith. Well, almost.  Now that I’m older and have realized that I don’t have to let her choices rule my life anymore, I’m starting to get some of these scriptures.  Especially when I relate them to the God that I love and understand.

I believe that our lives are intertwined very intricately.  Whether we realize it or not, each one of us has a place we are meant to be.  I know that might be difficult to understand, especially for those who are in a difficult place.  Difficult places, bad things, have a way of working out to be more positive (most times). Many of my personal struggles that left me shaking my head in misunderstanding and disbelief have worked out for the good (usually with time).  Sometimes I never learned why I went through a difficult patch and that’s okay too.  I accept that.

I finally understand the meaning of that scripture verse.  Here’s how I interpret it:

When in our lives we allow our higher power (or God) to guide us, then we are in the optimum position to create goodness.  It’s in that place that we will be able to do “all things”.  We can do “all things” because those “things” are what the Universe wants us accomplish right now.  If we allow that which is to work through us then we will have the strength to accomplish what we are meant to contribute to this world.  Each one of us has a special talent or gift that will enrich the world and make it a better place.  When we are in touch with that, then we can do all things through our higher power which helps to strengthen us because we are meant to do what it is we are trying to accomplish.

I struggle with confidence in my abilities, because I honestly don’t know what I can do until I try.  Sometimes I have no idea where it is I’m supposed to be (my destiny). And that’s okay, because not knowing might be just where I am supposed to be at the time.  I accept that.

I pray that today and everyday that I am allowing my higher power to work through me, that I find the strength to do the good that I am meant to accomplish in my lifetime.  Are you allowing your true talents and gifts to shine through you? What will you do today and everyday to make our world a better place? What is your destiny?
